taxes that employers pay

I am a nanny, but my employer didn’t pay their nanny taxes. What now?
I have worked part-time as a nanny in my employer’s home for the past year. My employers did not pay their nanny taxes, but they paid me from their employer’s childcare FLEX account. They paid me at a rate that I agreed to with the understanding that it was under the table, but now they realize that they have to file taxes for me as an employer. They say they will give me a W-2. What taxes am I responsible for now?
They’re only required to withhold Social Security and Medicare taxes. Since the year is passed now, they’ll have to pay both halves of it, however they will add your half onto your gross wages in box 1.
You will have to file a tax return and pay any income taxes due on that income. At least you won’t be soaked for Self-Employment taxes!
Now you BOTH know the “penalty” for not paying by the rules. Good luck, you’ll both need it!
